About Us
The story of IL CANE DOLCE began in 1992. Jo-Ann DeAngelo, the founder of IL CANE DOLCE and long time dog aficionado, met Monty.
Having trained dogs since grade school, she saw no problem with her two month old bundle of brown fur-----a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. It didn't take long to discover this hardy working dog had zero respect for her. He proved this by aggressively biting, scratching and bullying.

Never one to give up, she did what she had done with her past dogs, she signed up for an obedience class. And another and yet another. She was told by three different trainers her dog was dominate-aggressive and to put him down. All of this happened before Monty was three months old! He was stubborn, sure, but did he deserve a death sentence? Being stubborn herself, Jo-Ann did not give up on this ruffian of a canine, the likes of which she has never seen before or since. Thus began the journey of a girl and her dog. Monty was a smart dog, and not one to give in. After several months of consistent work, he began to defer to Jo-Ann.

Monty is now a "retired" senior citizen and to his credit, he has been on TV shows, print ads, TV commercials (where he was dubbed "Two-take Monty.") He has obedience titles, has done an instructional CD-Rom, he has done children's workshops on pet care, protection work, retrieval work, and most importantly, has been the most splendid, wonderful and funny house pet, with tons of heart and drive. Hind-sight is indeed twenty twenty, but the thought of putting down such a "wonder-dog" was not lost on Jo-Ann. It was during this time, she decided to dedicate her life to helping others with their pets. And quite selfishly she knew this would be a fun and rewarding career. She took Monty along and did demos for all of the vet offices in town, left her cards and the rest is history.

She has been training dogs for twelve years with heart and intuition and passion. Twelve years later, she still believes she has the best job in the world, "hanging out with dogs."

Jo-Ann is an all-breed dog trainer. She trains every kind of dog, from the sweet young puppy to the dog who has behavioral problems. She understands that every dog is different and tailors her programs to each canine individual. She believes strongly that if you watch and listen, every dog will tell her what they need. This is one of the things that make her one of the very best handlers in town. She has been affectionately called "Dr Doolittle," "Annie Sullivan" "The Dog Whisper." by her clients
